Dark Side Skates is skater owned and skater run.
There are two locations, the original in Broken Arrow, OK and now in Austin. Dark Side is a full line core skateshop, meaning they carry skateboards and skateboard gear exclusively; no bikes, no roller blades, no snowboards. Dark Side Skates focuses on brands owned and run by skaters, avoiding big corporate brands run by profit-only driven corporations. The goal at Dark Side Skates is to become a centralized point for skaters so that they can help grow and nurture the skate scene here in Austin. Dark Side Skates wants to educate kids on where and how their stuff is made, so they understand how they can support skating through their actions and purchases.

The people at Dark Side Skates want to help kids derive a way of life out of skating so that they will enjoy it for their whole lives and not just as a teen phase.
Dark Side is a real Home Grown shop, I am sure they will do well, and encourage you to visit the store.
